Welcome future band or orchestra students and parents! Since your child is approaching the age, which we recommend, for beginning instruction on a musical instrument, this website is to aquaint you with our 5th Grade instrumental program.

All children in the 5th grade will be contacted early in the 2011-2012 school year by Mrs. Beagley (orchestra) and Mr. Storer (band). Following our initial presentation, those who are interested in becoming involved in the band or orchestra will return a form to school listing at least 2 instruments they would like to try. Each interested 5th grader is then personally interviewed and given assistance in selecting the most suitable instrument.

Parents may rent or purchase an instrument from any reputable music store. Please make arrangements to have Mrs. Beagley (orchestra) or Mr. Storer (band) check an instrument before making a purchase elsewhere. Buying an instrument online is like buying a car online: it may look good in the picture but it is hard to tell how well it will work. For your convenience, the following stores will be at our enrollment night to provide rental instruments. All 5th grade students interested in playing a band or string instrument must register during one of the enrollment dates and times which will soon be publicized. Parents will also be expected to purchase lesson books and a practice music stand to use at home.

Enrollment Nights

During this time, you will have the opportunity to meet your childs band or orchestra teacher, and there will also be a music store available to help you get set up with an instrument, book, music stand, or whatever else you will need. Please make sure to attend the enrollment night for your school. The dates are posted below. You can come in any time between the times listed.

If you go to Dundee Highlands, Liberty or Sleepy Hollow Elementary Schools, your enollment night is Wednesday, August 31 from 3:30PM-8:00PM at Liberty Elementary. Click here for a map.
